Activity 2: Setting Sail
The first settlers to come to New Zealand must have been really brave! They had
to leave their original homes and sail thousands of miles across the ocean on a special
boat called a ‘waka’ to reach NewZealand.

Imagine that you were on board one of the wakas. On your blog, write a short letter

Dear friend:
The voyage to new Zealand was bad. Leaving was sad but on the way here was
terrible. Throughout our journey here we kept on getting pushed side to side from
the tide of the water. While we were working hard trying to get here most of our
food got wet. Also some of my people kept getting sea sick commonly the young
ones. But we have just arrived putting smiles on everyone's face. The people here is nice,
providing us some food, clothes and shelter. This island is bigger and also safer comparing
from the other islands were been too. Well, see you soon.

ReplyDeleteNice post! I like how your letter goes from the journey there being a bad experience to a good experience landing on the new island. It is also a really well written letter, clearly describing what it was like for you. While reading it, I was able to empathise with you on the rough venture and also celebrate when you made it to the land safely and happily.
