SLJ - Week 4 day 4 - (1,2 and Bonus Activity)

Day 4: Contemporary Entertainment

Activity 1: Moana
moana.jpg
In late 2016, the movie Moana was released by Disney.
It’s a beautiful story about a young Polynesian girl from
the fictional island of Motunui, who goes on a big adventure.

Watch the trailer for Moana and then write a summary of
the movie on your blog. If you’ve seen the movie, you can
include your favourite part! Tell us as much as you can about
the movie. What is it about? Who are the main characters in the
movie? What do they do in the movie? Where do they go?

Moana is a movie adventure movies which I like. It started off
when they were low on food and also the environment was fading
away. So moana try to leave but always getting caught by his dad.
The dad will not allow anyone to leave the island because
it is very dangerous in the outer world. Moana’s grandma
always encourage her to go and save the world from Te Ka.
But one day the grandma was very ill. She told Moana to
go and save the world but you have to find Maui first, so
Moana got her things and ran to the boat she quickly left.
While she was talking to hei hei she got pushed by a wave to
an Island which apparently, that was were maui lives. So both
went to battle Te Fiti and restore the heart of Moana.

I’ve watched this movie a lot of times so i'm going to tell you
my favourite part of the movie. My favourite part of the movie is
when Moana restores the heart of Te Fiti and also the reaction
when Maui got his hook back which Te Fiti fixed.

Activity 2: Country Calendar
Did you know that the longest running television show
in New Zealand history is a programme called
Country Calendar’? It started on 6 March 1966 and
has been running ever since. The programme includes
stories of everyday New Zealanders, many of whom are farmers.

Watch this short clip from Country Calendar. What do you
think would be the most interesting and/or challenging things
about being a farmer?

Interesting thing was how they keep there promise from a
long time ago saying that they will plant tomatoes, peas and
more. After a decade or two there were all these plants and
vegetables planted. Also it is amazing that the show has been
going on for 52 yrs now. That really is a very long time.

Challenging thing is shaving the sheep's wool, planting
plants and vegetable and also waking up early in the
morning just to do all these stuff. Also waking up early
to work at the animals

Would you would like to be a farmer when you are older.
Why/why not? Give us, at least, two reasons to support your answer.

I do not want to be a farmer although it sounds a lot of fun,

3 reasons I do not want to be a farmer:

1. Because I cannot wake up early everyday
2. I know that it is very hard
3. I don’t do well with animals

Bonus Activity: Singing a Different Tune
A number of New Zealand (NZ) singers and songwriters have
recently burst onto the music scene, becoming popular both in
NZ and overseas. One of these artists, Lorde, is gaining a lot of
recognition for her unique style and songwriting ability. People
all over the world seem to really like the lyrics (words) that she
writes in her songs.

Think of your favourite song. Share the name of the song, the name
of the person who wrote the song and the lyrics from the song
on your blog. You must type the lyrics not cut and paste them
in order to earn full points for the activity.

Lyrics:

(Here's another one)
Come on

I'm here to stay baby
For me there's no mucking around
I do this purely for music
Never for the money of fame

I’m blessed with this music
It's my one heart desire
Surely music takes me higher
To a place i’ve never been before

(General Fiyah, watch it man)

I mess around come quick nobody tell me what they think
Now don’t ever forget why we do this music
Not for the popularity, money other things
Yo purley cause we have the passion for the music
The drum and bass makes you move your waist
Meanwhile this reggae music take you to a higher place

Come and dance up and down
Come and do the rubber duck

Come join the fun there's from for everyone
No room for hate leave your trouble at the gates
General fiyah on the rhythm, THD got you moving

I'm here to stay baby
For me there's no mucking around
I do this purely for music
Never for the money of fame

I’m blessed with this music
It's my one heart desire
Surely music takes me higher
To a place i’ve never been before  x2

(General fiyah, Watch it man)

I mess around come quick nobody tell me what they think
Now don’t ever forget why we do this music
Not for the popularity, money other things
Yo purley cause we have the passion for the music
The drum and bass makes you move your waist
Meanwhile this reggae music take you to a higher place

Come and dance up and down
Come and do the rubber duck

Come join the fun there's from for everyone
No room for hate leave your trouble at the gates
General fiyah on the rhythm, THD got you moving.

  4. Morena Loto!

I like that you put lots of effort and thought into these activities, well done! I've seen 'Moana', and that is a great summary of the movie! I also love it when Moana restores the heart of Te Fiti as it is her big moment where after all this time, her family can be proud of her and thankful that she did what she knew was best.

I agree with you that getting up early is one of the biggest challenges of being a farmer. They get up at a crazy hour - about 4am - and start work! I suppose you get into a routine and it becomes easier, but it's not for me either! Sheering sheep is also hard because they are heavy and hard to manoeuvre whilst sheering them at the same time! Have you ever watched someone do it?

Nice choice. That song sounds like it's talking about loyalty and a love for music. Do you like or play music yourself? Maybe an instrument or sing?

    Nicky :)
